Functionality of Organized Nanostructures 2014 (FON' 14)

SCOPE

What was nanotechnology in the past decade? What is nanotechnology at present? What should be nanotechnology in the next decade?

Ten years ago, we organized the 1st International Symposium on the Functionality of Organized Nanostructures (FON ’04) to discuss the future vision of nanotechnology. Ten years later, we would like to organize the 2nd edition of the symposium (FON ’14) to look back at the development of nanotechnology over the past ten years and discuss and debate the future visions for nanotechnology.

For this purpose, we invite world’s really top-level scientists and promising young researchers to the symposium, which will also be open for a general audience as well. The symposium is held at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (“Miraikan” in Japanese) in the Tokyo-Bay Area on November 26th – 28th, 2014.

The symposium will also celebrate the 25th anniversary of the ERATO Aono Atomcraft Project (1989-1994) supported by JRDC (JST at present) which is responsible for the implementation of science and technology policy and plans of the Japanese government.
