Five U.S. students have come to NIMS for three-month internship program supported by NNIN (National Nanotechnology Infrastructure Network). Dr. Rathbun, a program manager, and Dr. Healy, an education & outreach coordinator, have accompanied them for the first three days to follow up their start of research project and to meet with each student’s host researchers. NNIN, supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), has provided the well-organized nano technology programs for undergraduate student in U.S.A. over the past decade. From this year, a new program has begun to foster global awareness of students through the experiments in world-wide research environment. Excellent students selected by NNIN have been sent to NIMS for the internship program. NIMS cooperates this program as a globally-esteemed institute in Nanotechnology field. ICYS-IMAT has been assisting their inbound procedures and their comfortable stay in Japan.
