NIMS offers Graduate Research Assistantship for excellent students in Doctoral Program in the Department of Chemistry. The successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend as NIMS Junior Researchers (JRs)

 1. Qualification
Applicants should be expected to have a MS degree in materials science, metallurgical engineering, physics or chemistry by the end of March 2012.
Admission to the Doctoral Program in the Field of Advanced Functional Chemistry, at the Hokkaido University is a prerequisite for the assistantship.

2. Duties
The duties of the JRs include maintaining and operating scientific instrumentation, creative involvement in the thesis advisor's research projects, performing experiments, analyzing and publishing the results, attending conferences to present the results, and training and supervising junior students or visitors to the institute. The JRs must obey the general rules for the NIMS staff members. The academic research for the student's thesis project is not a part of the duties of the fellows, but usually there is a close link between the thesis topic and the research project for the JRs.
