| Introduction of TOEIC/TOEFL for
English testing to the entrance exam |
|
TOEIC and/or TOEFL score will be used to measure applicants' English ability
for the entrance exam for the Doctoral Program in Materials Science and
Engineering in the Graduate School of Pure and Applied Sciences, Univ.
of Tsukuba.
Therefore, if you are planning to take the entrance exam for the Doctoral
Program in Materials Science and Engineering for the 2011 academic year,
you must take TOEIC or TOEFL and obtain your Official Score Certificate
(OSC) or Examinee's Score Record (ESR) in advance.
Only TOEIC OSC or TOEFL ESR scores for after Janurary 2010 are valid for
the year 2012 exam. Examinees are required to bring their valid TOEIC OSC
or TOEFL ESR to their oral examination; a photo-copy will not be accepted.(Applicants for Master course must submit it when they submit the application
of the entrance examination) The score of TOEFL ITP is NOT accepted
If you took TOEIC or TOEFL in the past, you should make sure that your
score is still valid, and bring the original TOEIC OSC or TOEFL ESR to
your oral examination. If you have not taken one of these tests, you
should take one as soon as possible. Please check the test schedules on
the homepage and make sure you have enough time to obtain the TOEIC OSC
or TOEFL ESR before the oral exam of the graduate school.

* TOEIC is the acronym for Test of English for International
Communication. The TOEIC test is a global standard for the assessment
of communicative English ability and is currently offered in some 60
countries around the world. The TOEIC test was developed and is
administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS), a U.S.-based
non-profit test development organization. The TOEIC test in Japan is
administered by the Institute for International Business Communication,
IIBC. (http://www.toeic.or.jp/)
* TOEFL is the acronym for Test of English as a Foreign Language. It
was developed by ETS in 1964. The TOEFL test measures the ability of
non-native speakers of English to use and understand English as it is
spoken, written, and heard in college and university settings. Please
