Materials Manufacturing and Engineering Station

We supports NIMS advanced research from the viewpoint of monozukuri (Japanese-style manufacturing) and works in close collaboration with researchers.

This Station is established as a unit to support advanced research promoted by research units from the viewpoint of research support and monozukuri, and contributes largely to the development of results in two sections – Materials Manufacturing and Materials Engineering – in close collaboration with researchers.

Shiro TORIZUKA

The Materials Manufacturing and Engineering Station was established as a unit to support the advanced research promoted by research units from the viewpoint of research support and monozukuri, and greatly contributes to the development of research results in close collaboration with researchers. This Station consists of two sections – the Materials Manufacturing Section and the Materials Engineering Section – and performs supporting work essential for accomplishing research objectives, such as test manufacturing of research equipment, sample manufacturing, glass work, and various analytical support, as well as melting, casting, rolling, and heat treatment, targeted mainly at metal materials. In addition, this Station is open externally, and includes joint research with the goal of the effective use of shared NIMS facilities and technology transfer of know-how accumulated in connection with various advanced processing technologies of materials developed at NIMS.

Groups

Material Engineering Section

This Section is utilized by researchers in wide-ranging areas such as Machine Work, Glass Work and Sample Making Work as a unit that provides technical support involving advanced research and development. The engineers of this Section develop experimental devices, offer technical consultations, and more in collaboration with researchers.

Section Head Yasuji MASUDA
Section Member Sadao HIRAIDE Masayuki KOMATSU

Materials Manufacturing Section

This Section responds to requests concerning materials manufacturing from researchers at home and abroad by providing raw materials in metal materials research, managing melting, casting, rolling and heat treatment facilities in connection with materials manufacturing, and conducting experiments suitable for various kinds of research.
