Magnetic Materials Center

Promoting development of magnetic materials for data storage systems and such required for realizing the “Ubiquitous Society”

The Magnetic Materials Center conducts fundamental researches on the development of magnetic and spintronics materials and their devices for data storage and energy saving. The emphasis of the research approach is given on understanding the structure-property relationships of magnetic and spintronics materials and their devices.

Managing Director
Kazuhiro HONO

At the Magnetic Materials Center, we carry out generic research needed upon development of magnetic materials for data storage systems or for spintronic devices and permanent magnetic materials, etc. that are crucial for the automobile/airplane industry. By promoting development of next-generation high-performance magnetic materials and fundamental research required for realizing the Ubiquitous Society, we aim to propose – while underscoring the materials science approach and based upon assessment as to nanostructures of magnetic materials or magnetic/spintronic devices in addition to analysis of magnetic properties – development guidelines for magnetic materials that express excellent properties.
