Beginning with materials reliability, we propose “not-too-distant-future” technology for materials needed in a safe and secure society by combining variegated research activities such as design of composite materials with fail-safe functions and of coatings with damage-tolerance capacities, fabrication of intelligent sensors and development of sensor technologies.
Research Centers and Overview of Research Thereto
Materials Reliability Center
We seek to establish life assessment techniques for creep, fatigue and stress corrosion cracking of steel and other structural materials in practical-use environments
Hybrid Materials Center
We seek to develop foundational technologies aimed at realizing materials with fail-safe functions that prevents sudden destruction of structures
Sensor Materials Center
We will carry out foundational research required for sensing technology development, then develop actuators for effective use thereto
Exploratory Materials Research Laboratory for Reliability and Safety
We search for a new possibility of the materials by researching them with various approaches.
