Key Technologies for Supporting Science & Technology in the 21st Century
Codinating Director's Greeting
- Cordinating Director
- Naoki KISHIMOTO
Nanotechnologies comprise the key technologies for supporting science & technology in the 21st Century. So that Japan can attain the strategic objectives of leading the world in the science & technology fields (encompassing ICT, life sciences and environment/energy technologies), innovative foundational nanotechnologies that form the support for such science & technology fields must be established. In this area, NIMS is involved in nanoscale structural processing, characterization/analysis and theoretical computations. Based upon world-leading technologies from NIMS and enhancement thereto, we aim to help realize innovative developments in Japan and globally – not to mention at NIMS – for developing and implementing high-level foundational technologies for use in the nanotechnology sector.
