The Second NIMS-WUT-EMPA Workshop on "Nanomaterials for Sustainable Development" was held at NIMS on November 12th and 13th , 2009, with the first goal to stimulate the further international exchange of young scientists between the three institutions - NIMS (National Institute for Materials Science), WUT (Warsaw University of Technology, Poland) and EMPA (Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research, Switzerland).
WUT was the host of the first workshop that was held in Warsaw in June 2008. A total of 21 oral research presentations focused on "Nanomaterials", "Biomaterials" and "Energy and Environment" were given by experienced researchers as well as by young scientists (Ph. D. students and post-doc level) from the three organizations. The workshop included a “Laboratory tour for young scientists” which visits high-quality user-facilities at NIMS.
