NIMS employs outstanding scientists from various countries who have abundant knowledge and strong research skills in　materials science.

We will welcome the application from female researchers, non-Japanese researchers and researchers who have careers in private companies.

Researcher in the field of Material Science for Environment, Energy and Resources.

Several positions

The applicants should have a Ph.D. degree or expect to have a Ph.D. degree by the start of employment.

As a general rule the position is permanent(Age retirement system).However, the applicants may be accepted as five-year or less fixed term employees if the reviewers judge that final decision should be made after watching the performance of the applicants on the job. If this is the case, they can be reviewed for transfer to permanent researchers after a certain period of time.

Even under such fixed term employment, working conditions including annual income shall comply with the treatment of permanent employee. For instance, they are covered under the national public service personal mutual aid system. They can get an exemption from pay back of scholarship loan by JASSO (only for those who got it by March 31, 2004). They also can apply Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research by JSPS. Further, they can be qualified to study abroad up to one year. Housing and employment insurance are available.

The application documents should be prepared in English. The interviews should be given in English (In the Q&A section of the interview, Japanese can be used.)

Candidates are selected through an impartial, multi-faceted examination process, which includes a review of the application documents and an interview.

- The application documents should be prepared in English.
- After filling-in and signing by yourself, make them to PDF file and submit with other documents.
- Bring the application form at the interview after passing the documentary screening.
Research accomplishments
- Your originality in your research accomplishments should be described clearly. This should be generally 1 page (A4) long, and must be prepared in English.
Future objectives
- Concrete research plans and future grand visions should be included. This should be generally 1 page (A4) long and must be prepared in English.li>
List of publications
- Include all applicable items, clearly categorized as original papers, proceedings, commentaries, oral presentations, patents, books, etc.
Reprints can be included (no more than 3 papers)
