■Research Activities

In our group, fusion of biotechnology and biomaterials is being attempted. Our goal is development of safe and functional biomaterials using material genomics technology.
We are investigating interactions between biomaterials and cells at a gene expression level. These interactions are very important for development of safe and functional biomaterials.

◆Research Activities
Living cells show specific response against various stimulations, suggesting that living cells could be utilized to develop a device for high-sensitive assay. Our group developed high-sensitive cytotoxic detection system using nano-biotechnology.

ECM proteins and cytokines were expressed using biotechnology. We try to develop regeneration of tooth using those recombinant proteins.
Our novel co-culture method allows basic biological research of cell-cell communication. Our results indicate that many hepatocyte functions increase in intensity upon layered co-culture.
