ABOUT US:We are working to establish a novel field of material nanobiology called "surface nanobiology" or "particle nanobiology" because we want to control the functions of genes, proteins, and cells by using nanostructured surfaces or nanoparticles. Basing this new field on the integration of molecular biology and cellular biology with materials science and nanotechnology, we will produce knowledge and information useful to those who design biomaterials and biodevices. ・・・・more
RESEARCH FIELDS
Bone-forming osteoblasts are derived from mesenchymal cells in bone marrow, and phenotypes present during osteoblastogenesis are tentatively divided into three phases: osteoprogenitor, preosteoblast, and mature osteoblast.・・・more The aim of this project is to make new advances in the field of interfacial interaction between nanomaterials and cells. Although many studies have been performed, there is a striking lack of quantitative analyses.・・・more
A DNA microarray is a molecular technology that enables comprehensive gene expression analysis. We used this technology to compare the gene expression patterns of cells cultured on biomaterials with various surface structures.・・・more
