Structural and Magnetic Properties of Co2MnGa0.5Si0.5 and Co2MnGa0.5Sn0.5
B. Varaprasad
One of the key properties in magneto electronics is the so called half metallicity that is conduction
electrons that are100% spin polarized. This is due to a gap at the Fermi level in the minority spin
channel and a finite density of states for the majority spin channel. So Heusler alloys are one of the
potential candidates for the magneto electronics. For Heusler alloys the temperature dependence is one
of the major problems. To reduce the temperature dependence it is important to have the huge band gap
at minority spin and the Fermi level should lay at the middle of the gap. I would like present my resent
data on Co2MnGa0.5Si0.5 and Co2MnGa0.5Sn0.5 which may have the less temperature dependence.
Towards CPPGMR with high MR ratio using Heusler alloys
T. Furubayashi
CPPGMR is promising for reading heads for high density media because
of lower resistance than TMR. However, low MR ratio compared toTMR
is still a disadvantage. In this talk, I would briefly describe the principle
of CPPGMR and discuss problems to be solved for realizing high GMR
ratio using Heusler alloys.
