Fundamental research on magnetic materials for hybrid cars ![]()
We carry out fundametal research on the development of permanent magnets and soft magnetic materials for future hybrid car mortors in collabortion with engineers of TOYOTA through the NIMS-TOYOTA Materials Center of Excellence for Sustainable Mobility
Subtheme
1.Studies on coercivity mechanism of Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets by multi-scale
characterization
We study the mechanism of the coercivity of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets with various processing and alloy compositions by correlating the coercivity with detailed microstructural features. The microstrucural features are characterized in multi-scales using high resolution SEM, TEM and laser assisted 3D atom probe. Based on these knowledge, we design the processing and alloy compositions of higher coercivity permanent magnets without Dy.
