構造材料研究拠点は2014年10月に設立された後、2016年4月からの第4期中長期計画では、インフラ構造材料、輸送機材料、エネルギー構造材料という出口分野と、材料信頼性、構造材料基盤技術、構造材料基礎科学という基礎・基盤分野の６つの研究分野に、構造材料データシート活動を加えた新体制での活動を開始しました。“構造材料つくばオープンプラザ（TOPAS）”や拠点シンポジウム、セミナー等を通じた情報発信や設備共用、人材育成活動、企業との組織連携や共同研究等に取り組み、鉄鋼MOP (Materials Open Platform) を構築する等、我が国における構造材料研究拠点としての機能充実化を目指すとともに、2018年4月には、外部連携を含めた研究活動を有機的に推進するための機動性向上を目的として、6研究分野から3研究分野への再編を行い、新体制での活動を開始いたしました。引き続き、構造材料研究拠点の体制及び機能の一層の充実化を図り、その成果を社会に還元することを目指してまいります。今後ともNIMS構造材料研究拠点の活動にご指導ご鞭撻を賜りますよう、宜しくお願い申し上げます。

In April 2016 as NIMS started new mid-term plan for the next 7 years, Research Center for Structural Materials (RCSM) established in Oct. 2014 has commenced its activities under the new regime with six research fields covering fundamental and practical aspects of structural materials, and one platform to evaluate long term reliability of structural materials. The objective of RCSM is to be a national hub for research in structural materials through research collaboration, transmission of information, shared use of advanced research facilities, as well as development of human resources. In April 2018, six research fields in RCSM has been reorganized to three research fields with the view to enhance maneuverability of research activity. We continue to be actively involved in enhancement of research capability and to strive to return the results of research to society. Your support and understanding are greatly appreciated.
