The 2nd GREEN Symposium

Global Research Center for Environment and Energy based on Nanomaterials Science (GREEN) held GREEN symposium on March 9th, 2011.

In this symposium, Mr. Naoya Naneko, Fellow of Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) gave a lecture on "Energy Researches in U.S. and Their Vision & Strategies" instead of Prof. Elaine A. Chandler who had to cancel her appearence due to her sudden illness, and Dr. Frederic Dross of Solar Cell Technology Group, IMEC in Belgium on "How to Organize Industry Cooperation in an R&D-environment through Shared Resources" after Managing Director, Dr. Kotobu Nagai's lecture on "Mission of GREEN; Basic Research on Nanomaterials Science with a Vision for Industrial Needs."
As for the panel discussion titled "Challenging Problems for GREEN," Dr. Junichi Sone, the vice president of NIMS/Deputy Director-General of GREEN, facilitated the discussion done by Mr. Manabu Fujine, General Manager of Toyota Motor Corporation, Dr. Michiharu Nakamura, Director of Hitachi, Ltd., Prof. Kazuhito Hashimoto, Prof. Louis Schlapbach, Deputy Director-General of GREEN and Dr. Kotobu Nagai, Managing Director of GREEN, and they discussed problems that should be challenging for GREEN from various angles.

We had so many visitors to our symposium as well as the poster presentations in the lounge area that made us realize their deep interests and high hopes for GREEN.
