Abstract

Rare-earth magnet Nd2Fe14B has remarkable presence in both industrial and consumer products nowadays.
While many improvements have been made in its magnetic performance, some important mechanisms of the magnetic properties are still veiled in a haze.
To unveil the mechanisms, we start from looking into the magnetic structure by using neutron beam with better resolution than ones used in earlier studies in 1980’s [1,2].
Powder diffraction pattern obtained with synchrotron x-ray is also used as supportive data of the crystal structure to improve the quality of magnetic structure analysis.
In addition to the result of Nd2Fe14B, we also present a brief analysis of a Dy- doped sample which is more important in a practical point of view.
